Kites: Twin Roses under construction

I learned of this square diamond kite from John Freeman. The original concept was from Margret Gregor. It is like a Hata fighter kite and would be very unstable without the tails. It is a wonderful design for it flys in a wide range of winds. As the winds pick up it tends to dump them by tiping up the bottom and flying more parallel to the ground. This particular one I made for my wife for Mother's Day. We have two daughters, a rose bud for each.

It is made of 0.75 ounce ripstop nylon. Parts of the rose buds have one layer, others two layers and some three layers. This give three different shades of red. This one is five feet wide and has three ??? foot tails. Sparing is A20 fiberglass.
